About Accommodations: You have many hotel options in Los Cabos. Good to excellent rooms run from $55 to $100-300 a night - on the marina or beach. Private Villas can run to as much as $10,000 per night. Some resort hotels offer as much as 50% off to our patients. So be sure to check with us before you reserve your room. We also offer Free accommodations to large treatment patients so be sure to ask us for more info.
About Passports: Passports are required to enter Mexico by air. US passports can be obtained in as little as one week if you are willing to pay extra. Pick up the application forms at your local post office or online. Mexican Tourist Visa paperwork will be issued to you on the flight before arrival.
About Security: If you´re from a big city like Los Angeles, Mexico City or Washington DC you can relax. Los Cabos (and Baja Sur) enjoy one of the lowest crime rates anywhere in Mexico and equal to most American small towns for that matter. For years, Los Cabos has had the highest rate of employment and growth in Mexico due to its popularity as a tourist destination and luxury 2nd home location. Cabo doesn’t have the social issues often found in close-to-the-border towns such as San Diego, Tijuana, Phoenix, Juarez, El Paso etc. Surrounded on 3 sides by the sea and 1,000 miles of desert to the north – it’s more like Hawaii in its isolation and safety. Major surgery patients may have 24/7 attendants, all patients have 24/7 on-call assistance from our doctors and staff.
About Cell Phones & Communication: Your cell phone may work here. You can also purchase one locally for $50 with 300 minutes on it. International calling cards may be purchased in many stores, Internet Cafes are everywhere, and many hotels have Wi-Fi.
About the Water: A new (2 years) De-sal plant provides one-third of Los Cabos water, the rest from over a dozen underground aquifers. Larger hotels often have their own water purification systems and provide bottled water as well.
About Banks, ATM’s & American Express Offices: Your Visa or M/C will withdraw $300-$500 cash daily at most ATM’s. Most businesses take dollars and pesos at current exchange rates. HSBC, Bancomer, Banamex, Santander, American Express and other financial institutions have branches here.
About Medicines: Many prescription drugs in the USA are over-the-counter in Mexico. Medicines are very inexpensive here. Best to keep that prescription for those meds with you while in Mexico and especially when returning back home for when passing through customs.
